Every track asks a different question. Long straights want a slippery car; tight corners want grip.

This is the aerodynamics: the wings and the floor. Change anything and watch the drawing and the numbers. Then go and drive it: the only lap time that counts is one you set yourself.

What the driver said

Come back from a run and describe how the car felt. The garage will find the number behind the feeling and the smallest change that answers it. It will also tell you when the numbers disagree with you, which usually means the fix is in the driving.
