Driver aids

Every aid keeps the car short of the limit, so each one you switch off is lap time waiting to be taken, if you can do its job yourself.

ABS brakes never lock, but only at 93% of the grip: braking by hand stops about 3 m shorter from 300 km/h Traction control no wheelspin, but it feeds the power in gently: about half a second slower to 200 km/h Stability catches slides for you, and scrubs off speed doing it (banned in real F1) Steering help stops you over-steering the front tyres past their best angle Automatic gears changes up at 11,700 rpm; by hand you can hold on to 12,500 Automatic DRS

These are drawn on top of the track. They change nothing about the car and nothing about your class, so a lap set with them on is still a lap.

How fast the steering winds on when you hold a key. Low is steady and easy to catch; high turns in at once, and spins just as quickly. On a controller it scales the stick.

Turn your phone sideways.

Stuck facing the wrong way? Hold the brake at a standstill for half a second to select reverse, and hold it again to go forward.

What this can’t tell you

The car is a “bicycle” model: one tyre per axle, flat tracks, no kerb bumps, no suspension travel.
There are no track limits: run as wide as you like. The grass and the gravel will cost you more than a penalty would.
Tyres heat and cool but never wear; there is no fuel load, no dirty air and no other cars.
The tracks are built from steady curves (see the Setup Sheet), so they only look roughly like the real ones.
The computer driver sticks to the middle of the track. Use the full width, like a racing driver, and you will beat it.
